WEATHER IN JULY

Sydney has a reputation for its changeable weather. A tip for any visitor is to be prepared for anything – wear layers that can be worn or removed as needed.

Daily low temperatures are around 9°C, rarely falling below 5°C or exceeding 12°C. The lowest daily average low temperature is 8°C on 20 July.

                         TRAVEL

You can explore and experience much of Sydney and surrounding regions on public transport including metro/train, bus, ferry and light rail services.

Use the Trip Planner or download a transport app to plan your trip and get fare estimates and timetable information.

For most people, using an Opal card or contactless payment method to pay is the best option for value, flexibility and convenience.

ARTS & CULTURE

A range of beautiful venues host concerts, gigs, theatre and dance performances. The UNESCO World Heritage-listed Sydney Opera House puts on over 40 shows a week as well as offering backstage tours. Each evening, Badu Gili illuminates the eastern sail – a projection exploring ancient stories of the traditional owners of Bennelong Point, the Gadigal people.

The State Theatre in the CBD is a stunning heritage building with opulent décor fusing eclectic elements of gothic, Italian and art deco design. Since its opening in 1929, the theatre has been an integral part of the social and cultural fabric of Sydney.

               DINING

Sydney’s multicultural heritage, a local passion for food, and the fresh produce and seafood on its doorstep come together to create one of the world’s best places to eat and drink.  One of the city’s most popular dining precincts is centred around Kensington Street in Chippendale. It’s home to Spice Alley, a lantern-strung laneway lined with Asian street food stalls, as well as restaurants like Automata, Mekong, Olio and Gavroche. Finish the night with a cocktail at Gin Lane or The Clare.

If fine dining is more up your alley, QuayBennelongAria and Cafe Sydney are set around Sydney Harbour, serving innovative modern Australian cuisine with exceptional views. Go for seafood and steak at the striking art deco Rockpool Bar & Grill and indulgent French-Japanese degustation at Tetsuya’s.
