As we experience COVID-19 restrictions across the country, the Taking Control of our Heritage – Indigenous Cultural Heritage Conference 2021 has been shifted to an all-digital platform.

DATES: Wednesday 27th & Friday 29th October 2021

It is with regret that we will be shifting this conference to an all-digital platform. This has been an immensely difficult decision for conference organisers and we recognise that this may be disappointing but it may also not come as a surprise to those who have supported the conference through its postponements.

Since there is still much to be discussed about Cultural Heritage protections, both nationally and locally, it is essential that Traditional Owners remain involved in these processes. To keep you involved in the legislative review, we are holding two digital one-day events on Wednesday 27 and Friday 29 October – for free. To provide some escape from screen fatigue, we have chosen not to hold these events back-to-back. By transitioning to a digital platform, we hope to widen our reach and encourage more people to participate in this important conversation.

“We manage our Culture and our Heritage, not just for the benefit of our own mob but for all People that come to our Country.”

Rodney Carter, Immediate Past Chair, Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Council
