Ever wondered what it is like to eat in the dark? Eminent psychologists have been advocating dining in the dark as the ultimate taste experience for many years. Studies show that 80 percent of people eat with their eyes; with that sense eliminated, the theory is that the other senses—namely taste and smell—take over to elevate your meal to a whole new level. After donning your blindfold in a candlelit room, you'll soon realise that focusing on taste and smell alone can be a truly enlightening experience—provided you're not afraid of the dark!

The In Sight of Dreams Charity is in existence to provide mentorship and support people who live with a disability – to empower them to live more independently and enjoy a better quality of life.  By booking a ticket to this exciting event, you will be helping raise money to put a participant through our Back on Track program and give them the help they need.  100% of proceeds raised will be donated back to In Sight of Dreams.

GUEST SPEAKER

GLENN ‘SPIDER’ ROBERTS

Glenn has been a regular feature of the Australian V8 Superboats scene for almost 20 years, his unmistakable six foot-eight frame laying claim to his nickname, something he actually inherited from his time as a champion ruckman in regional Victoria.During his time in the sport Roberts has been a race winner during his formative years in the now outmoded 350-Class, whilst in recent years, he has been a force to be reckoned with in the elite Unlimited Superboat category.

Campaigning a 1200-horsepower, 632-cubic-inch Chevrolet ‘big-block’ in his appropriately named ‘Blown Budget’ Unlimited V8 Superboat, Roberts is a regular feature in the battle for podium results, yet despite competing against drivers with significantly reater resources and budgets, Roberts takes it all in his [very long] stride.

A ‘jack-of-all-trades’ in the true meaning of theword,  Roberts does much of the work on his jetboat himself, often pulling down the engine and jet unit alone to keep on top of maintenance, whilst at events he has a solid core of crew to keep him running at the peak of performance. Whilst the first to commit to anything that will help the promotion of the sport - from displays at schools around the country, to putting his hand up to take people for rides around the circuit (something that’s not for the faint of heart) - Roberts is committed tothe sport he loves, for one very important reason..

His time behind the wheel could come to an end within the next couple of years due to an illness heonly recently discovered..

“I had good hearing at birth, then it deterioratedat about five - I had hearing aids and they were a bit confused about what had happened back in those days.  About eight years ago I went to an eyes pecialist to get some metal shavings taken out of my eyes and he started asking questions and that’s when I got diagnosed with the Usher Syndrome which has similarities to retina pigmentosa, so it’s aweakness of the retina that deteriorates as well as the hearing. With my condition it’s a hidden illnessas such, you don’t see it, you could look at me andnot know that I’ve got hearing aids, not know that I’m going blind. Unless you’ve been around me, you wouldn’t know.”

For now, Glenn competes with the full support of his doctors, and continues to love what he’s doing.
